PIPO Moteurs is a French company located in Guilherand -Granges, in the department of Ardèche, one hundred kilometers south of Lyon. It specializes in the design, development, manufacture , maintenance and development for race engines.

Established in 1973 in Valence as a small craft business , it is dedicated first to the tuning and maintenance of engines of Formula 2 : Cosworth, Hart and BMW, while commonly used by the best riders participating in French and European mountain's championships.

In 1978, itbbegan working with major French and European teams including : AGS, BP Racing CiBiEmme, Garage Mirabeau, Oreca, Prodrive, SDA Sport Schnitzer BMW.

In 1983, signing with B.M.W. France agreement on the tuning of a series of engines for competition in touring car tracks.

The company moved to Guilherand -Granges in 1990, on the ground it occupies today. It has an on-site dyno eddy current. An office is created. 6 people are employed.

The year 1994 marks a new stage in the development of society. Jean -Pierre Jabouille, Technical Director of Peugeot Sport, contacts PIPO MOTEURS and entrusted him with the development of the engine in the 405 Mi 16 engaged in the Super Touring Car French Championship. The number increases to 15 persons employed, a second dyno test cell is put in service.

At the end of the season, Peugeot won the championship.

In 1995, Pipo Moteurs engaged in the Super Touring Car French Championship again and launched the study of the engine that will power the " diabolical " 306 Maxi, twice France Rallies champion in 1996 and 1997.

In 1997, Peugeot won the highly competitive German Super Touring Championship (STW) with Laurent Aïello driving a 406, powered by PIPO Moteurs.

Since 1998 the development of society is accelerating. All Peugeot Sport engine being mobilized by the formula 1 program, soPIPO Moteurs is assigned design, development and manufacture of a new turbocharged engine for the 206 WRC that PSA has decided to engaged in the WRC world championship rallies. The covered area increased from 500 to 1000 m2, fully air-conditioned . The engineering team is expanding and two workstations assigned to CAD. A third test cell is placed in service. It integrates all the means of control and data acquisition required for the perfect control of the project. The count is 25 people.

The year 1999 is dedicated to frame and motor development of the 206 WRC which is engaged in six rounds of the world championship. Marcus Gronholm finished fourth of Finland Rally and scored his first points in the world championship. The company now employs 28 employees.

The year 2000 saw the 206 WRC win in his first full participation, two league titles : driver and manufacturer WRC championship.

In 2001, to ensure the manufacturing of engines for the official and private teams and improve the development of the current engine for 2003 evolution, the surface covered increased from 1 000 to 1 500 m2, 800 m2 assembly plant . A fourth test bed , air conditioned and humidity controlled is launched.

2002 is the year of the consecration for the 206 WRC with the title of world champion rally driver and manufacturer .
The construction of the fourth test bench is completed by the end of the year.

In 2003 , the arrival of Citroën and Sébastien Loeb is a somewhat stop harvesting world titles for Peugeot Sport.

In 2004 and 2005 the 307 WRC will sign few success with only 3 wins in its global in spite of recognized by pilots and journalists, as the reference point engine.
At the end of 2004 , Peugeot Sport announced its withdrawal from the World Rally Championship for the end of 2005.
Pipo Moteurs is then contacted by Malcolm Wilson and Christian Loriaux to develop the engine for the new Ford Focus WRC. It will make its first official appearance at the last rally of the 2005 season in Australia ...
This year 2005 will be rich in education for the company through a historic collaboration with a team which was 100 % British before leaving Cosworth to join Pipo Moteurs.

The year 2006 will show a very good performance of the BP Ford, with a car that rolled for the first time in October 2005, will sign 8 wins and the World Champion WRC manufacturer title. The first one for Ford and MSport.

The year 2007 was hotly contested with the arrival of the new Citroen C4. Marcus Gronholm has tried more than ever to win a third title of World Champion driver for his retirement but two consecutive errors in Japan and Ireland allowed Sébastien Loeb to win the title.
Pipo Moteurs nevertheless won his fifth title of world champion manufacturer. This is the second for the Ford BP team.

In 2008, despite a competitive car, the driver and constructors' titles missedf Pipo Moteurs, BP Ford team and Mikko Hirvonen ...

After the withdrawal of the Subaru World Rally Championship , there are only two official manufacturers involved in 2009 : Citroën and Ford. This does not prevent them from engaging in massive battles with a highly competitive driver title that was played on the last rally of the season and turned to the advantage of Loeb with a point ahead of Hirvonen .

2010 is the year of the launch for the Ford Fiesta S2000 with an atmospheric 2.0l engine designed and developed by Pipo Moteurs.
His first appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo, will be very noticeable thanks to the victory of Mikko Hirvonen .
Fifty of these engines were made ​​for MSport in 2010.

In 2011, it was the Ford Fiesta WRC time to be launched. The new regulations require a 1600cc turbo engine with direct injection. The team Pipo Moteurs developed this project with a lot of work done on the combustion point of view. Unlike other projects where Pipo Moteurs was involved so far, there was no requirement from an original cylinder head. This is a cylinder head fully designed by Pipo Moteurs team for this new generation of engines.
Mikko Hirvonen finishes only eight points behind Sébastien Loeb for the driver championship.

For 2012, Mikko Hirvonen leaves Ford and Petter Solberg joined the team with Jari-Matti Latvala . The car has to be very good perfomance, numerous road trips both crews have once again benefited Citroën .
During this year, Pipo Moteurs developed a fully machined from scratch engine bloc with dry oil sump. It now has its own complete engine 'made in Ardèche' ...
Pipo Moteurs team also support Ken Block's Ford Fiesta participating in USA rallycross championship and X-Games rally. This engine develops more torque 590cv and 900N.m...

In 2013 , Pipo Moteurs began a collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport to improve the i20 WRC engine.
The V8 bi-turbo engine fitted on Bentley Continental GT3 starts in Pipo Moteurs' workshop.

In 2014, Hyundai engaged its i20 in WRC World Championship with good results, especially with a first and second place during Deutschland Rallye.
Petter Solberg won the FIA WRX world championship with his DS3 equipped with Pipo Moteurs' engine.

In 2015 , development continues for Hyundai WRC's engine with a fully machined from scratch block and cylinder head.
Petter Solberg has renewed its confidence and achieves to win his 2nd FIA WRX world championship.
In the United States, Ken Block with Hoonigan Racing team is still one of the leader for GRC championship. Two other teams now have a Pipo Moteurs Engine : Bryan Herta Autosport and Chip Ganassi Racing.

Meanwhile, Pipo Moteurs continues to rebuild and build engines for 306 Maxi, 206 and 307 WRC, Ford Focus and Fiesta WRC, Peugeot and Ford F2000 ...
